From the Tudors to the Windsors: Royal British Women & their Art, Homes and Gardens with Page Knox

Page Knox showing art mural to a small crowd

Inspired by exceptional English royal women, this Indagare Art Club will look closely at British Art from the Renaissance to present day. Starting with the Tudors and the paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, houses and gardens of that era, we will make our way through the various British dynasties, ending with Windsors and works of the twentieth century. As you discuss the art of the United Kingdom and its relationship with the larger world, your host, Page Knox, will encourage you to consider the vital role played by queens and consorts in the British Empire, from Elizabeth I to Elizabeth II and many more in between. Since the content covered in this club spans many hundreds of years, the club itself will be split into two parts. Part I will focus on the Tudor, Stuart and Georgian Periods and will take place in the Fall. Part II will focus on the Victorian and Windsor Dynasties and will begin in January 2024.
